NEW YORK, New York – EW Healthcare Partners (“EW”), the healthcare growth equity investor, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Thomson as an Operating Partner.
Andy Thomson brings more than three decades of commercial and leadership experience to EW Healthcare Partners and its portfolio companies. As a seasoned executive, Andy has spent significant time across the Life Science Tools and Diagnostics space through a career at three blue chip companies. Most recently, Andy served as SVP EMEA at Thermo Fisher, a multi-faceted position managing the commercial business across all of Thermo’s business lines and $9 billion in revenue in Europe, Middle East and Africa. During his leadership, Andy led the EMEA business to strong organic growth, increased productivity and drove the EMEA acquisition diligence, integration and execution for Patheon, FEI and Affymetrix.
Earlier, Andy managed the $3.5 billion Global Specialty Diagnostics business at Thermo, which included six divisions, including its anatomical pathology business, during a period of growth both organically and through M&A, as well as increased margins.
Prior to joining Thermo Fisher, he was SVP and General Manager of the Centralised Diagnostics division at Roche. He strengthened Roche’s position diagnostics through expansion of commercial and support capabilities that doubled the organic growth of the business. Before joining Roche, Andy was VP of Marketing at Dade Behring.
EW has developed a strong relationship with Andy since he joined the boards of Grundium in 2023 and GermFree in August 2025. Additionally, Andy currently serves on the Boards of TubeWriter, ClearStart and Spectrum Solutions.
