Andrew J. Thomson

Operating Partner

Andy Thomson joined EW as an Operating Partner in 2025.  Mr. Thomson brings to EW decades of experience, most recently as Senior Vice President and President, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Corporate Accounts and Marketing of Thermo Fisher Scientific. 

Mr. Thompson joined the Board of Directors of Grundium in 2023 and Germfree in 2025.  He currently serves as the Chair of Grundium.  In addition, Andy serves on the board of TubeWriter. 

Andy joined Thermo Fisher in January of 2009 as Vice President and General Manager, North America, for the Microbiology Division. He was promoted to the position of President of the Clinical Diagnostics Division in October 2009 and was named Senior Vice President and President of the Specialty Diagnostics Group in February 2012.  During November of 2015, Andy took on the role as Senior Vice President and President of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).  In 2018, he added Corporate Accounts and Marketing to his responsibilities.

Prior to joining Thermo Fisher, Andy worked for 15 years in the diagnostics industry, including nine years with Dade Behring (now Siemens Diagnostics), where he served in various marketing roles and ultimately became Vice President of Marketing for North America. Andy then joined Roche Diagnostics, where, during his six-year tenure, he was Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for Centralized Diagnostics in Germany and later led all commercial activities for the Professional Diagnostics group in the U.S. His career also includes assignments in Canada and Germany.

Andy holds an honors degree in economics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.
